Hmm, I’m torn between choosing the class that I would most enjoy on principle or the class that I wish I was in the most in the context of HP. Actually, what really makes it difficult is that I would sit in Professor Binns’ for twelve hours a day without complaint if it just meant that I could be part of the wizarding world. Pleeeease let me go to Hogwarts – I’m only three years overage now! That’s really not so much, right? Right?!
Well anyway, I guess I’m going to have to go with… ahhh this is so hard… Charms. Charms is the essence of performing magic! Well, that and Potions, but I think having to deal with Snape just isn’t worth it in the end, no matter how fascinating the subject is. But Charms! Whether it’s the first time that we hear Hermione whisper “Alohomora!” or witness Harry grinning insanely after practicing Cheering Charms, the class forms the core of what makes wizards and witches, well, magical. Plus, there’s only a small amount of theory and bookwork involved in the actual lessons; more often than not, we see the students spending the class period using magic and making pillows zoom around the room or causing birds to appear out of thin air. Okay, HOW FUN IS THAT?!
And Flitwick is both one of the most competent and fun teachers at Hogwarts; he’s like that ancient little teacher who seems so sweet, but then you discover that he has this whole history that was totally badass. He’s so quirky that I know he’d be my favorite professor by a mile – the guy drinks cherry syrup and soda with a little umbrella in it. He was a Dueling Champion in his youth, and he’s fierce when it comes to defending those he cares about: during the final battle, he attacked Snape and drove him out of Hogwarts, and then subsequently was in the thick of the fight.
